Mr. Boyd B. Farmer, age 96 of Lookout Mountain in the New Salem Community, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Bartow County on December 1, 1912, son of the late Bascomb Plott Farmer and Phenie Caroline Odom Farmer. He had lived in Dade County on Lookout Mountain since 1952, and was a technician for Burt Brown Ford for many years. Mr. Farmer had served many years as a Baptist deacon and song leader, and was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Calhoun.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, Norman Farmer.
Mr. Farmer is survived by his wife of 70 years, Thelma Farmer; a son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Bibble Farmer of the New Salem Community; a brother, Carlton Farmer of Rossville; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Boyd B. Farmer will be conducted Monday, January 26 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. J.E. Glass and Rev. Jether Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Jason Farmer, Bryan Farmer, Clint Farmer, Anthony Duggan, Ronnie Stone, and Tim Phillips.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
