Brenda Joyce Barnette

Mrs. Brenda Joyce Barnette, age 64 of Calhoun, died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at her residence following a year of declining health.

Mrs. Barnette was born on February 25, 1947 in Gordon County, Georgia, daughter of the late Hardy and Lillian Wyatt Fuller. She was a homemaker and a member of Oostanaula Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Lester Barnette, to whom she married for 47 years; a daughter, Melody Chastain and her husband Vic of Calhoun; two sons, Greg Barnette and his wife Helen of Rome, and Shane Barnette and his wife Lori of Calhoun; a sister, Judy Fuller of Calhoun; a brother, Jackie Fuller and his wife Martha of Summerville; and grandchildren, Kyle Barnette, Autumn Chastain, Jacob Chastain, Tamara Barnette, Alyssa Stanley, Kassey House and Kayla Chastain. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brenda Joyce Barnette will be conducted Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 2:00pm from the Oostanaula Baptist Church, with Greg Barnette and Brother Isaac Johns officiating. Singing will be arranged by the Renewed Trio. Active pallbearers serving will include Hugh Don Tate, Doug Nesbitt, Darrell Sutherland, Rayford West, Kyle Barnette, Anthony Barnette, Jason Brown, and Darrell Fuller. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 12:00 noon. Honorary pallbearers serving will include Jerry Lemons, James Edwards, Donald White, Dewey Gravitt, Earl VanDyke, George Bridwell, Terry Lee Thomas, Bruce Gilbert, Jack White, David Edwards, Roger Tinch, Wayne Gazaway, Walter Chastain, and Adam Brown. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the church on Wednesday at 1:45pm. Mrs. Barnette will lie in state at the church Wednesday for one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in the Oostanaula Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4:00pm until 9:00pm.
