Obituary

John Bruce Hurd, 67, of Ranger died Monday, May 6, 2019. Bruce was born in Swainsboro, GA on March 4, 1952, son of the late John T. Hurd and Gladys Wright Hurd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, J.W. and Loneita Harris.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 43 years Celia Hurd; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Brandi Hurd; grandchildren, Kylie Hurd and Kadie Jo Hurd; brother and sister-in-laws, Stan and Angela Harris; nieces Nicole Tibbs and Kristen McGuire; an uncle and aunt, Mac and Shirley Wright; and a special friend and caregiver, Jackie Fletcher.
The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, May 9th at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home. Eddie Brannon will officiate. Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Pallbearers serving are Kevin Phipps, James Stokes, Terry Bunch, Tim Wright, Gary Wells, and J.R. Pritchett.
The Hurd family will receive friends at the funeral home on May 9th from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to American Heart Association American Stroke Association, PO Box 840692 Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or to American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601, or Damascus Road Residential Recovery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff with Tapestry Hospice of NW Georgia and the nurses, doctors, and staff of Kindred Hospital in Rome.
