Bud Talley

June 16, 1936 — February 25, 2016

Mr. Howard Lee "Bud" Talley, 79 of Dalton, GA passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Hamilton Medical Center following several months of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on June 16, 1936, son of the late Chester and Maude Massingill Talley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Ruby Whaley, Thelma Jean Talley, twins Brenda and Linda Talley, and Shirley Talley.

Bud served his country in the US Army, deployed in Germany throughout the mid- 1950's. He was a homebuilder for many years in Whitfield County and Gordon County, and later owned and operated Talley's Backhoe and Dozer Service. He was a member of Cross Pointe Christian Center in Dalton.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Marie Mull Talley; sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky Talley, Wallace and Donna Talley, Billy and Pam Talley, Dennis Talley, and Gabriel and Pamela Talley; daughters and son-in-law, Barbara and Chuck Sartaino of Belaire, FL, and Geina Godfrey; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clayton and Doris Talley of Tunnel Hill, Vernon and Martha Talley of Calhoun, and Ken and Sandi Talley of Calhoun; sisters and brother-in-law, Geneva and Don Klotz of Resaca, and Gwen Harris of Calhoun; and grandchildren, Brandy Smith, Tamara Parker, Latisha Lancaster, Adam Dill, Chayne Bailey, Cheyenne Godfrey, and Devin Talley.

Services to honor the life of Mr. Howard Lee "Bud" Talley will be held Sunday, February 28th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Dwaine Shadix officiating. Interment will follow in the Hill City Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. Active pallbearers will include Randall Talley, Kevin Talley, Joe Talley, Adam Talley, Adam Dill, and Chayne Bailey. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Shelton and Tom Pickle.

The Talley family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 27th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
