Buddy Benson

Mr. Coy Edward "Buddy" Benson, age 70 of Resaca, died Thursday, November 27, 2014 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Covington, TN on February 9, 1944, son of the late Coy Leander and Mattie Bell Mauldin Benson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Nellie Faye Hall and her husband Jimmy, and Nadine Ward; and a brother-in-law, Bob Lyle.

Mr. Benson had resided in this area since 1986, moving here from Memphis, TN. He attended Sugar Valley Baptist Church, and had retired from Mohawk Industries.

He leaves behind his wife, Jane Anne Stephens Benson; four sons, James Edward Benson of Resaca, Coy Edward Benson, Jr. of Resaca, Andy Benson and his wife Lara of Resaca, and Samuel Lee Benson and his wife Kim of Mississippi; two daughters and sons-in-law, Billie and Silas Lowe of Resaca, and Claudia and Jim Baird of Pioneer, TN; a brother and sister-in-law, Danny Ray and Cheryl Benson of Memphis, TN; and a sister, Janice Lyle. Fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, fourteen nieces and nephews, and a special niece, Ginger Hoage also survive.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Coy Edward "Buddy" Benson will be held Sunday, November 30th at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Mitch Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are Tim Lowe, Cody Benson, Ethan Watson, Cody Watson, Coy Benson III, James Benson, and Chris Benson.

The Benson family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday after 2:00 PM.
