Buren Max Gregory

Mr. Buren Max Gregory, age 76 of Calhoun, died Thursday afternoon, July 26, 2007 at Gordon Hospital.

Mr. Gregory was born on January 16, 1931 in Gordon County, son of the late William Walter Gregory and Lillie Virginia Wall Gregory. He was also preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Max Poole and John Henry. During his lifetime, Mr. Gregory served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a retired employee of Lockheed-Georgia Aircraft Corporation at Marietta, Georgia. Mr. Gregory was a member and Deacon of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Martha Faye Sumner Gregory of the home; four daughters; Virginia Yancey and her husband Michael of Ranger, and Dianne Poole, Elaine Gregory and Debra Gregory, all of Calhoun; three sons; Billy Gregory and his wife, Sandra, and Dewayne Gregory and Robbie Gregory, all of Calhoun; and one brother; Densell Gregory and his wife, Diann of Ranger. Fourteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and two special friends, JoAnn Watkins and Stephanie Martin also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Buren Max Gregory will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Amazing Grace Baptist Church with Rev. George Gray and Rev. Gay Grizzle officiating. Singing will be arranged by Larry and Betsy Gregory. Grandsons will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Sumner, Lamar Sumner and the men of the church. Burial will follow the service at Chandler Cemetery with military honors being accorded. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Saturday beginning at 5:00 p.m. The family requests that flowers be omitted, and that donations be made to the Amazing Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, in care of Rev. Gay Grizzle.
