C. H. Smith

Mr. C.H. Smith, age 82, passed away peacefully Saturday, September 25, 2010 at his residence with loving family and friends by his side.

Mr. Smith was born in Resaca, on December 11, 1927, son of the late R.L. and Dessie Brown Smith. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Smith. He worked in the trucking business all his life, having retired from JRC Transportation of Calhoun. He logged many miles across the United States, even taking his loving daughters on trips with him. C.H. was of the Baptist faith and attended the New Zion Baptist Church. He was a member of the Resaca Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Smith is survived by his loving wife, Nanka Weeks Smith, to whom he was married for 54 years; two daughters and sons-in-laws, Kim and Curtis Carey of Live Oak, Florida, and Gina and Perry Rawls of Calhoun; two grandchildren, Will and Katie Rose Rawls; a sister, Minnie Lee (Sis) Whittemore of Calhoun; a nephew, Michael Whittemore of Calhoun; and a niece, Glenda Fuller of Rome.

Funeral services for Mr. C.H. Smith will be conducted Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at 4:00 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Bearden and Rev. Johnny Massingill officiating. Music will be arranged by Carmen Green. Interment will follow the service in the Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Monday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
