Mr. Cal Howard (Chip) Watford, III, age 52 of the Rock Creek community, Calhoun, passed away suddenly Wednesday, October 17, 2012. He was born in Fulton County, GA on February 3, 1960, son of Cal Howard Watford, Jr. and the late Julia Tutton Watford. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Diane Watford in 2009.

Chip loved to play guitar, and could play any stringed instrument. He collected steam engines, old gas engines, old gas pumps, vintage autos, old farm equipment, and the associated memorabilia. He enjoyed gardening and outdoor sports. Chip had been employed with Cherokee Mechanical since 1995, and was a member of the West Union Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Shannon Gates Watford; a son, William Cody Watford of Chattanooga, TN; his father, Cal Howard Watford, Jr. of Roswell, GA; a very special niece, Melissa Hooker of Calhoun; a step-son, Gabe Soto of Calhoun; a brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Mary Ann Watford of Roswell; and a sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Amy and Ed Barfield of Canton, GA. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Caroline Barfield, Julia Barfield, Will Barfield, Ava Watford, and Liza Watford; a great-niece, Hannah Mealor; and a great nephew, Dylan Mealor.

Memorial services for Mr. Cal Howard (Chip) Watford, III will be held Saturday, October 20th at 12:00 noon from the West Union Baptist Church, 1560 Everett Springs Road, Calhoun, with Pastor Jerry Brooks officiating, and family and friends delivering the eulogy.

The Watford family will receive friends at the West Union Baptist Church Saturday from 10:00am until the service hour of 12:00 noon.

The family requests flowers are omitted and donations be made in Chip's name to The American Heart Association, 310 N. Selvidge Street, Dalton, GA 30720, or the ALS Foundation for Life, PO Box 96, Natick, MA 01760.
