Mr. Calvin A. Blankenship, age 76 of Adairsville, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009. He was born in Henry County, Georgia on January 4, 1933, son of the late Joseph and Viola Mae Moss Blankenship.
Mr. Blankenship had been a heavy equipment operator with Cochran Brothers, and was a veteran, having served his country in the United State Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Full Gospel Church.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a son, C.W. Blankenship; brothers, Marvin Blankenship, J.R. Blankenship, Burean Blankenship, and Leehue Blankenship; and two sisters, Frances Gerrard, and Lillie Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Geraldine Hensley Blankenship; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Alfred Stanley, and Kathy and Mike Jones, all of Adairsville; and a sister, Pauline Carter of Stockbridge. Eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Calvin A. Blankenship will be conducted Saturday, May 16 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Timms officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Michael Jones, Michael Thompson, Dustin Phillips, Jeff Jones, Keith Jones, Mike Jones, and Cliff Jones. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 1:15pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
