Mr. Carl Johnston England Sr., 90, of the Pine Chapel Community, Resaca died Friday October 31st in a Dalton Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was born in Gordon County, GA on November 5, 1923, son of the late John Mack England and Cora Electra Hensley England. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James England, one brother, Mack England, two half brothers, Grady and Ira England, three sisters, Annie Maude Kentigh, Betty June Tate, and Bonnie Faye Johnson, and by a half sister, Mary Gentry.
Mr. England was a lifelong resident of Gordon County having graduated from Pine Chapel School. In 1943 he was inducted into the United States Army having served during World War II. After he was discharged from the Army, he worked on the Dairy farms owned by Claude Rickett and Troy Causby. He also worked at Brown Laundry, Dixie Belle Mills, and later retired from Beauleu Carpet Inc., where he was an Industrial Electrician.
Survivors include one daughter, Paulette Oliver and her husband James of Calhoun; two sons, Larry England and his wife Diana of Resaca and Carl England Jr. and his wife Donna of Calhoun; daughter-in-law, Christy England of Calhoun; one brother and sister-in-law, James England and his wife Anelle of Calhoun; eight grandchildren, Jerry and Erin Conaway, Carl England III., Jamison and Joshua England, Tuesdey Lanier, Jake and Wesley England. Nine great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Carl Johnston England, Sr. will be held Tuesday, November 4th at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pine Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the United States Army Honor Guard. Pallbearers are Jamison England, Larry Anderson, and Joshua England.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Monday evening between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
