Mr. Carl F. "Odie" McNeese age 83 of Calhoun died Thursday April 11th at Gordon Hospital after a period of declining health. Mr. McNeese was born in Gordon County, Georgia on August 25, 1929, son of the late Chester F. and Fannie Lou Richardson McNeese. He had served in the Georgia National Guard for 11 years and was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation where he was an Engineer. He was a member of Heritage Baptist Church of Calhoun where he had served as a Deacon.
Mr. McNeese was preceded in death by his wife and the mother of his children, Johnnie Mae Black McNeese in 2005 and by a grandson, Erik McNeese in November 2012, one brother, Hugh McNeese and by two sisters, Ruby Rutledge and Jessie Lou Vess.
Survivors include Jeanette McNeese, two sons, Kem McNeese and his wife Jan of Calhoun and Stan McNeese and his wife Lisa of Calhoun and a step-daughter, Tracy Hall and her husband Sammy of Calhoun, grandchildren, Sabrina McNeese-Tongren and her husband Pete of Smyrna, GA, Katie McNeese-Woody and her husband Kirk of Ashburn, VA, Tyler McNeese of New Hampshire, Amy Nesbitt and Allison Nesbitt both of Calhoun. Three great-grandchildren, Kaestin Woody, Jade McNeese and Dani McNeese. A host of neices, nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Carl F. "Odie" McNeese will be held Sunday, April 14th at 2:00 PM from Heritage Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Brent Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. The Deacons of Heritage Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Saturday April 13th between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM.
