Carl Samuel Rierson

Mr. Carl Samuel Rierson, 85 of Calhoun, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at his home, following several months of declining health. He was born in Stokesdale, NC, son of the late Jim and Carrie Rierson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma; sister, Alma Pope; and brothers, Odell Rierson and Louis Rierson.

Carl was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was formerly a Deacon at Doraville First Baptist Church, and attended Sugar Valley Baptist Church. He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the US Army. He was retired from the Internal Revenue Service.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Jane Rierson; his daughter and son-in-law, Doug and Janice Easterling; grandchildren, Jim Easterling and his wife Nancy, Tim Easterling and his wife Lori, Alex Rierson, Chandler Rierson and his wife Alina, Chase Rierson, and Chapin Rierson; great-grandchildren, Kelsey Easterling, Haleigh Easterling, Hannah Easterling, Morgan Easterling, and Madi Easterling; and special friend, Inez Owens and her husband Johnny.

Services to honor the life of Mr. Carl Samuel Rierson will be held Thursday, February 18th at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Mitch Phillips and Rev. Matt Futch officiating. Interment will follow in Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers serving will include Chandler Rierson, Chase Rierson, Chapin Rierson, Tim Easterling, Jim Easterling, and Taylor Chapman.

The Rierson family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:00 am until the service hour of 1:00 pm.
