Cecil Kenneth Walraven

Mr. Cecil Kenneth Walraven, age 70 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 in Floyd County. He was born on April 12, 1938, son of the late Joseph "Buck" Walraven and Mary Jo Pate Messer.

Mr. Walraven was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He retired from Lockeed Martin, and was in the United States Marine Corp Reserves. He was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Pate, stepfather, E.A. Pate, and aunt, Lois Walraven.

Survivors include his wife, Sherrill Glenn Walraven; three sons, Johnny Walraven, Kenny Walraven and his wife Stacey, and Joey Walraven and his wife Kelley, all of Calhoun; and two brothers, Barry Pate and Brett Pate, both of Marietta. Seven grandchildren, Shannon, Johnathon, Callie, Nathan, Averi, Eli and India Walraven, nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Funeral Services for Mr. Cecil Kenneth Walraven will be conducted Sunday at 2:00p.m. from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Barry Brock and Tony Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Michael Pate, David Holland, Vince Steele, David Pass, Richard Greeson, Gary Blalock, Kelly Guess, Rodney Curtis, Tony Farrell, Van Harmon, Jason Hyde and Mitchell Washington . These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Sunday at 1:15 p.m. Honorary pallbearers include Jerry and Chris Randall. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday, from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
