Charles Alvin Hartness

Mr. Charles Alvin Hartness Sr. age 63 of Calhoun died Wednesday January 5th at Lafayette Health Care Center in Lafayette, GA., following several months of declining health. Mr. Hartness was born in Whitfield County, Georgia on November 1st.1947, son of the late Walter and Lela King Hartness. Prior to declining health he was employed by Mohawk Industries at Plant 154. Mr. Hartness was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Viet Nam. Having received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars; Purple Heart; One Overseas Bar; Vietnam Campaign Medal and Marksman Medal. Survivors include one daughter; Rhonda Prigmore and her husband Thomas of Dalton; three sons, Jeffrey Scott Hartness of Chatsworth, Charles Alvin Hartness Jr, of Calhoun and John Wesley Hartness of Indianapolis, Indiana. One sister, Carolyn Calhoun of Dalton and one brother, Jim Hartness of Chatsworth. Three grandchildren; Amber Petrey, Brook Hartness and Brent Hartness. Funeral services for Mr. Charles Alvin Hartness Sr. will be conducted with Full Military Honors at Georgia National Cemetery near Canton, GA. (Time and date will be announced later.
