Mr. Charles Clifford "Chuck" Byrd, Jr., 60 of Calhoun, died Sunday, October 25, 2015 at his home following an extended illness. He was born in Memphis, TN on May 5, 1955, son of the late Charles C. Byrd, Sr., and the late Charlotte Byrd.
Chuck's favorite song was "Love Lifted Me", which he would sing at the top of his voice while sitting on his front porch. He was a brilliant master carpenter, who designed and built his own home. He loved animals and people, and had a great sense of humor. His greatest joy was his wife, daughter, and grandchildren. Chuck was a veteran, serving his country in the US Air Force. He was a member of Adairsville Church of God.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Brenda Wilson Byrd; his daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Jaime England; step-children, Anthony and Bonnie Jackson, and Tracy and Dana Jackson, all of Calhoun; a brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Jaime Byrd of Olive Branch, MS; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and James Oglesby of Anna, TX, and Connie and George Ratton of Memphis, TN. Grandchildren surviving are Katie and Gracie England, Dakota Jackson, Siera and Aaron Patterson, Nathan Sexton, and Breanna Oliver; and great-grandchildren, Dawson, Chloe, and Sophia Patterson. Nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.
Services to honor the life of Mr. Charles Clifford "Chuck" Byrd, Jr. will be held Wednesday, October 28th at 2:00 PM from Adairsville Church of God, with Pastor Dwaine Shadix and Pastor Ken Coomer officiating. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 PM until the service hour. Interment will follow in Sugar Valley Church of God with military honors. Active pallbearers will include Troy Wilson, Kirk Schueman, Stephen Stanley, Tyler Haney, Glenn Wilson, and Andrew Buttrum. Honorary pallbearers are Kenny Wilson, Josh Wilson, Larry Wilson, Jr., Alton Williams, Larry Wilson, Sr., Johnny Jackson, Nathan Sexton, and Alex Fite.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
