Mr. Charles Gaynes, age 75 of Herrington Bend Rd., Calhoun, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his residence following an apparent heart attack.
Mr. Gaynes was born in Atlanta, GA on March 26, 1939, son of the late Alvin Lee Gaynes and Ethel Marie Powell Gaynes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Maraba Jody Gaynes in 2010; a brother, Virlyn Gaynes; and a sister, Janet Pompham.
He was a 1958 graduate of Sylvan Hiils High School, lettering in three sports. He loved taking care of his animals, gardening, the outdoors, and was an avid sports enthusiast. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sporting events and spending time with his family and friends. Prior to his retirement he was a licensed insurance agent. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marcie and Terry Gorsuch of Kennesaw, GA; a son, Brian Gaynes of Red Bud; grandchildren, Leah Marie Clark of Charlotte, NC, Garrett Michael Clark of Athens, GA, and Tyler Lee Gorsuch of Kennesaw; two sisters, Josie Miller of Douglasville, GA and Joyce Cannon of Marietta, GA; two brothers, Alvin Lee Gaynes Jr. of Fayetteville, GA and Steve Gaynes of Thomaston, GA; along with nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mr. Charles Gaynes will be conducted Sunday, March 8th at 4:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Private interment will follow at a later date. Honorary pallbearers serving will include Larry Vest, David Gaynes, Terry Gorsuch, Garrett Clark, Jim Nesbitt and Tyler Gorsuch.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 8th between the hours of 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
