Mr. Charles Jack Baker, age 75 of Calhoun, GA died Wednesday afternoon, June 13, 2012 in Kindred Specialty Hospital in Rome, GA after three months of illness.
Mr. Baker was born in Gordon County, GA on February 20, 1937, son of the late Joseph Carl Baker and Ruth Irene Seritt Baker. He grew up in Gordon County and attended the Sugar Valley School. He served in the Georgia National Guard for nine years and was employed by Collins Petroleum, Inc. in Calhoun, and prior to his retirement in 2007 he was the store manager for Basic Materials, Inc. in Calhoun. Charles looked forward to each spring when he would prepare the soil and plant his vegetable garden. He was well know for his gardening ability, and was always willing to help others establish their own garden. He always enjoyed being with his wagon train friends and their overnight camping trips. He served several years on the ministry team assisting Bro. Lamar Hand at Gordon Health Care with the weekly church services, and was a member of Faith Worship Center. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Long.
