Mr. Charles R. (Hank) Watt, age 60 of Resaca, passed away at his residence July 19, 2009. He was born in Toledo, Ohio July 16, 1949. Hank was a very proud member and usher of New Town Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Catrina M. Watt and a son, Mike Oullette. Hank proudly defended his country from 1967 until 1970, with two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 173rd Airborne. He was a Sky Soldier, and was in major combat and highly decorated. Hank was a United States Post Office Rural Carrier for 22 years, having been assigned to the Eastside Post Office in Dalton, Georgia.
Survivors include his loving wife of 37 years, Karen Watt; a daughter, Cindi and her husband, John Sutherland; grandchildren, Cassie Ouellette, Mikey Ouellette, Andy Ouellette, Justin Sutherland and Dalton Sutherland; parents, Charles and June Watt; sisters, Collen and Dave Grindle, Connie and Thomas Westhaven; and brothers, James and Darcey Watt, and John and Laura Watt. Nine nieces, fifteen nephews, eighteen great nieces, sixteen great nephews and one great-great niece also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Charles R. (Hank) Watt will be conducted Wednesday at 3:00pm at the New Town Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Anderson officiating. Music will be arranged by the New Town Baptist Church Quartet, and Gary Cochran. Active pallbearers will include Mikey Ouellette, Justin Sutherland, Matthew Watt, Greg Roytek, Travis Queen, and Brian Queen. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Ouellette and Dalton Sutherland. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening during the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm at New Town Baptist Church. Interment will follow the service in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.
