Charles Richard Greeson

Mr. Charles Richard ""Chief"" Greeson, age 69 of Calhoun, passed away Monday, August 25, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Gordon County on August 2, 1939, son of the late Alex and Daisy Mae Stokes Greeson. Mr. Greeson loved the outdoors, and was a retired Ranger with the U.S. Forestry Service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Faye Grizzle Greeson, and a brother, James Greeson.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Debbie Greeson; a daughter and son-in-law, Tracy and Shane Carter, all of Calhoun; brothers and sisters-in-law, Billy and Virginia Greeson of Rockmart, Jan and Lana Greeson of Calhoun, and Kenneth and Judy Greeson of Calhoun; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and A.W. French, Louise and Troy Lewis, Annette and Hayden Ponders, and Sherrie and Glen Blaylock, all of Calhoun, and Linda and Doug Gilbert of Ranger; and a sister-in-law, Betty Greeson. Three grandchildren, Emily Greeson, Colby Carter, and Laura Carter also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Richard ""Chief"" Greeson will be conducted Thursday, August 28 at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will include Wayne Greeson, Zevan Gilbert, Phillip Gilbert, Mark Gilbert, David Greeson, and Doug Ralston. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Thursday at 2:15pm. Honorary pallbearers are Ernest "Cotton" Gentry, Billy Weaver, Troy Casey, Walter "Bossie" Walraven, Kent French, Phil French, C.J. Dodd, Harold Dodd, and Buddy Fox, and they may meet at the funeral home Thursday at 2:45pm. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm.
