Charles Vernon Spearman

Mr. Charles Vernon Spearman, 83, of Sugar Valley, died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Gordon Hospital following two months declining health. He was born in the Hill City Community of Gordon County on October 24, 1931, son of the late Henry and Mattie Wyatt Spearman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Zelda Edwina Spearman, on July 21, 2015; brothers, Bill Spearman and Harold Spearman.

Mr. Spearman loved his community and enjoyed helping the neighbors by bush hogging and plowing their gardens and was an Industrial electrician having been employed in the maintenance department at Queen Carpets, Crown Craft and Collins & Aikman and later was employed by Whitfield County Board of Education in the custodial department and in 2011he retired from Home Depot where he worked in the electrical department. He served in the Georgia National Guard having attained the Rank of Corporal and was a member of Hill City Masonic Lodge # 319.

Surviving are two sons and daughter-in-law, Boyd and Teri Spearman, and Randy Spearman, all of Calhoun; two daughters and son-in-law, Donna and Michael Carnes, and Denise Miller, all of Calhoun; grandchildren, Savanna Miller, Brandy Byers, Milika Conner, Cyrus Bennett, Derek Spearman, John Spearman, and Lance Cox; and great-grandchildren, Cody Green, Emma Bennett, Harleigh Spearman, and Kassidy Spearman.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Charles Vernon Spearman will be held Tuesday, September 8th at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Matt Futch officiating, interment will follow in Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Army Honor Guard and Masonic Burial Rites conducted by Hill City Masonic Lodge # 319 along with other Masons. Pallbearers serving will include Bo. Nicholson, Ben Miller, Cyrus Bennett, Scott Wilson, Derek Spearman, Kenny Conner and John Spearman.

The Spearman family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Monday, September 7th from 5:00 until 9:00 PM.
