Charlie Odell Bennett

Mr. Charlie Odell Bennett, age 81 of Calhoun, died Saturday morning, August 04, 2007 at his residence following an extended illness.

Mr. Bennett was born on June 09, 1926 in Plainville, Georgia, son of the late Arch Bennett and Pearl Branch Bennett. During the years of 1944 through 1946, he served his country with the United States Army, then returned home where he was employed and retired from the textile industry. Mr. Bennett was a member of Meadowdale Baptist Church.

Mr. Bennett is survived by his wife, Alma Jean Patterson Bennett to whom he was married for 53 years; three daughters; Jeannie Bennett Miles and her husband Steve of Shannon, Debra Bennett Rutledge and her husband Eric of Resaca, and Rebecca Bennett Bearden and her husband Roger of Calhoun; three sons; Randy Carl Bennett and his wife Debbie, Rocky Dale Bennett both of Calhoun, and Ricky Bennett and his wife Carla of Alabama; two brothers; Grady Lawrence Bennett of Rockmart, and Albert Lee Bennett of Aragon. Eleven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Charlie Odell Bennett will be conducted Monday at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Edwards officiating. Singing will be arranged by Carla Bennett and Earl Tidwell. Pallbearers serving will include Douglas Bennett, Joe Bennett, Stephen Bennett, Mathew Bennett, Tate Putnam, and Lamar Roberts. Burial will follow the service in the Chandler Cemetery with full military honors being accorded by the personnel of the American Legion Post # 112 of Dalton, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Sunday evening during the hours of 2 until 4 p.m., and again from 6 until 8 p.m.
