Christopher Joseph Childers

Chris Childers, age 30 of Canton, formerly of Calhoun, passed away Monday, September 21, 2009. He was born in Murray County on June 3, 1979, son of Charles and Tammy Allen Childers. Chris was a 1998 graduate of Gordon Central High School, and was a member of the Gordon Central Warriors football team and the wrestling team. He had been employed in the construction industry, and was preceded in death by grandparents, Wayne Allen and Virginia Sewell.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Charles and Sherrie Childers of Calhoun; his mother, Tammy Allen Hall of Dalton; two brothers, Charles Wayne Childers and Timothy Chad Childers; a sister, Tonnie Childers; and grandparents, Jessie Sewell, Hilburn Childers, Mozelle Childers, and Joanna Allen. His friend and companion, Lisa Knight and her children, Kendra Smith and Thomas Knight; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Chris Childers will be conducted Saturday at 1:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Travis Childers, Rev. Bob Oesterle, and Rev. Lloyd Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in the West Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Steven Sewell, Brandon Sewell, Barry Hall, Bryan Dobson, Josh Childers, Roger Brown, and Kenny Walraven. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 12:15pm. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Childers, Lewis Dobson, David King, Reed Sewell, Donnie Childers, Walter Pitts, and Ronnie Luffman.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Friday beginning at 5:00pm. Online condolences may be expressed and the guestbook signed at www.maxbrannonandsons.com. Family owned and operated Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home is conducting the funeral services for Chris Childers, age 30 of Canton, formerly of Calhoun.
