Clara Dell Byars

Mrs. Clara Dell Byars, age 87 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday February 3, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born on November 11, 1923 in Gordon County, daughter of the late John W. and Lurie Kinsey Hall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil E. Byars; a son, James Edward Byars; a sister, Lillie Mae Balliew; and four brothers, Marvin Hall, John Hall, Herman Hall and C.A. (Rocky) Hall. She was a member of the East Calhoun Church of God.

Survivors are three daughters, Dianne Weeks and her husband Jerry, Mary Cannon, and Shirley Long, all of Calhoun; three sons, Junior Byars and his wife Linda of Alabama, David Byars and his wife Pam of Woodstock, and Mike Byars and his wife Brenda of Acworth; and a sister, Mary Jean Ralston and her husband J.W. of Calhoun. Special friends, Shirley Kirby and Shirley Rodriguez, as well as grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Dell Byars will be conducted Saturday, February 5th at 1:00pm from the East Calhoun Church of God, with Pastor Keith Reid and Rev. J.B. Kirby officiating. Music will be arranged by Hazel Bailey, Tara Smith and Lisa Kirby. Pallbearers serving are Adam Byars, Tony Cannon, Richard Cannon, Scott Byars, Lee Montgomery, Dakota Bomar, Gene Byars, Dennis Hall, Joey Rodriguez and Timmy Cox. Interment will follow the service in the Franklin Cemetery. Mrs. Byars will lie in state at the church Saturday from 12:00 noon until the funeral hour of 1:00pm. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 11:00am until 9:00pm.
