Clara Mae Priest

Mrs. Clara Mae Priest, age 87 of Calhoun, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Gordon Hospital following several years of declining health. She was a native of Gordon County, born on March 27, 1924 to the late Charlie and Ella Holden. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ray Daniel; a brother, Carl Holden; a sister, Florine Casey; and two grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Tom Priest, to whom she was married for 35 years; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Casey Daniel of Trion; two daughters, Jane Thomas, and Kathy Dunaway and her husband Walton, all of Calhoun; and two brothers, Earnest Holden of Calhoun, and T.J. Holden of Arkansas. Nine grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Mae Priest will be held Saturday, May 14th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Pastor Keith Reid and Pastor Jack Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Dewey Daniel, Gary Cooper, Sandy Hunter, Earl Priest, and Raymond Priest.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
