Mr. Claude Arnold Waters, age 89 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010 at Murray Medical Center. He was born August 14, 1920, son of the late Charles Dewey and Bertha Trammell Waters. During his lifetime, he was employed in the textile industry.
Mr. Waters was of the Baptist faith, and a member of the V.F.W. and American Legion. He was a veteran, having served his country in World War II and in the Korean conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Middleton; a brother, Floyd Waters; a half-brother Lyle Hyde; and step-mother, Josie Ellis Hyde Waters.
Survivors include two sisters, Jewel Waters Smith of Jasper, and Violet Powell Adams and her husband Tony of Calhoun; a brother, John Virgil Waters of Rossville; and a half-brother, James "Cotton" Waters of Calhoun. Special nephews Ronnie W. Powell of Atlanta, and James R. "Randy" Powell of Calhoun also survive.
Graveside funeral services with military honors for Mr. Claude Waters will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Saturday from the Fain cemetery, with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. The family will receive friends after 1:00 p.m. Saturday until the funeral hour. Pallbearers serving include Randy Powell, Ronnie Powell, Michael Stowers, and Tony Adams.
