Claude Estes Jackson Jr

Mr. Claude Estes Jackson, Jr., age 85 of Calhoun, died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at his home following several months of declining health. He was born in Blairsville, GA on January 9, 1929, son of the late Claude E. Jackson, Sr. and the late Rusie Lovell Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Ruth Underwood Jackson; brothers, Arland Jackson, Farrell Jackson, and Wilmer Jackson; and a sister, Wilene Rich.

Mr. Jackson was a veteran, serving his country in the US Army from 1952 until 1954. He was a retired Teamsters truck driver with Yellow Freight after 44 years, and a member of the Teamsters Local of Chattanooga. He was a Deacon and member of Sugar Valley Baptist Church, and a member of the Young at Heart Sunday School Class.

He leaves behind three sons, Michael L. Jackson, Jerry W. Jackson and his wife Sheila, and Darrell R. Jackson and his wife Neci, all of Calhoun; a daughter, Debbie Bone and her husband Larry of Calhoun; a brother, Gene Jackson; and sisters, Eloise Sexton and Clara Mote.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Claude Estes Jackson will be held Tuesday, October 21st at 4:00 PM from the Sugar Valley Baptist Church, with Rev. Mitch Phillips officiating. Music will be arranged by Amy Phillips Hartsfield, Chelsea Jackson, and Scott Marshall. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include Jesse Jackson, Scott Bone, Todd Bone, Michael L. Jackson, Scott Marshall, and Christopher Lawson. Honorary pallbearers are Jaxon Holland, Jason Marshall, Roger Smith and Donny Cochran.

The Jackson family will receive friends at Sugar Valley Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 21st from 1:00 PM until the service hour of 4:00 PM.
