Mr. Clifford Paul Arrington, age 76 of the Sonoraville Community, Calhoun, GA died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at his residence following several years of declining health. He was born in Cleburne County, AL on February 5, 1935, son of the late Charles Paul and Rose Smith Arrington. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Arrington and James Wingo Arrington, and a sister, Geneva Smith.
Mr. Arrington had retired from AA Vending in Dalton, GA, and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Eldean Smith Arrington; a son, Greg Arrington of Dalton; seven daughters, Paula Kate Burton and her husband Sam of Rocky Face, GA, Teresa Ann Morgan and her husband Charlie of Douglasville, GA, Teresa B. King and her husband John of Knoxville, TN, Patti Marie Meadows and her husband Mike of Calhoun, Rose Renee Conlon and her husband Craig of Gainesville, GA, Elizabeth Cornelia Arrington, and Shalyn Davis of Calhoun; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Ruby Arrington of Dalton, Charles and Jean Arrington of Dalton, Ralph and Barbara Arrington of Houston, TX, and Nathan and Mildred Arrington of Dalton; and a sister, Mavis Joyce of Myrtle Beach, SC. Grandchildren surviving are Michael, Daniel, Esther, and Lacey Meadows, Katy, Matthew, and David Conlon, Kathryn Morgan, and Joseph, Chase and Kate Burton; and great-grandchildren, Olivia Ella-Green Meadows, and Madlyn Rose Conlon. Numerous nieces, great nieces, nephews; many beloved cousins; a very special friend, Inez Russell; special neighbors, Bill and Delores Bearden; and many other beloved friends also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Clifford Paul Arrington will be conducted Sunday, October 23rd at 2:00pm from the Trinity Baptist Church in Calhoun, with Rev. Hugh Hagen, Dr. Joe Joyave, and Rev. Wayne Cofield officiating. Interment will follow in the Arrington Chapel Cemetery in Cleburne County, AL. Active pallbearers include J.P. White, Dennis Adams, Brian Baxter, Scott Burnette, Jonathan Williams, and Louie McEntyre. Honorary escorts are Mitch Phillips, Foster Smith, John Barton, Robert Wages, and Tommy Brumlow. Mr. Arrington's body will lie in state at the church from 1:00pm until the funeral hour of 2:00pm.
The family requests flowers be omitted and memorial contributions made to the Trinity Baptist Church Student and Children Ministries, 1170 Rome Road SW, Calhoun, GA 30701.
The Arrington family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
