Mr. Clinton Leroy Stephens, age 59 of Calhoun, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at Gordon Hospital following a brief illness.
He was born on January 9, 1952 in Laurinburg, North Carolina, son of the late Robert Louis Stephens and the late Pearlie Abragray Sellers Furnish. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Marie Rault. Mr. Stephens was a veteran, serving his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He was employed as a tree surgeon for the forestry service, and was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church.
Survivors include; two children, Rodney Stephens and Debra Stephens; father Robert Furnish, Fayetteville, North Caroline , three sisters, Paula Lawrence and Elizabeth Sivadon of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Barbara Lee Hendricks of Hope Mills, North Carolina; four brothers, Robert Furnish, Jr. of Greenville, South Carolina, Johnny Furnish and Ronald Furnish, both of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Glenn Scott Furnish of Rome. Nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Clinton Lee Stephens will be conducted Sunday, March 13, 2011 at 2:00 pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Brandon Nitezel officiating. Pallbearers serving will include Dale Fogleman, Terry Whitney, Steve Fogleman, David Whitehurst, Richard Whitehurst, and Robert Rault. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Sunday at 1:30pm. Interment will follow the service in the Chandler Cemetery with military honors.
The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
