Mr. Clyde Bradley Pelfrey, age 77 of Calhoun, GA passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Gordon Hospital. He was born October 30, 1935, son of the late Howard and Inez Cochran Pelfrey.
Mr. Pelfrey had retired from Lockheed-Martin after 30 years. He served for 27 years in the Army National Guard, 1st Battalion, 108th Armor Regiment, The Medical Platoon, where he was known as "The Grey Fox", and attained the rank of Sergent First Class (SFC). He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. Mr. Pelfrey had coached youth football, and was an avid University of Georgia football and Calhoun High School football fan. He and his wife Lyndell enjoyed participating in mission projects with Builders for Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Lyndell Pelfrey; four sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Stacey Pelfrey, Joey and Melissa Pelfrey, Keith and Debbie Pelfrey, and Tim and Pam Duvall; a daughter, Yvette Hubbard; sisters, Betty Wall and Von Haralson; sixteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Clyde Bradley Pelfrey will be held Friday, May 3rd at 11:00 am from the Trinity Baptist Church, 1170 Rome Road SW, Calhoun, GA 30701, with Rev. Eddie Brannon and Rev. Mitch Phillips officiating. Music will be arranged by Will Sevier and Diane Hicks. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens with military honors. Active pallbearers will include Jaesan Buchanan, Timothy Duvall, Jeffery Pelfrey, Jake Pelfrey, Shean Hubbard, Ryan Pelfrey, and Tyler Pelfrey. The City of Calhoun Fire Department will serve as honorary escort.
The Pelfrey family will receive friends at Trinity Baptist Church Thursday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Mr. Pelfrey's name to the Georgia Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, Attention: Retha Godbey, 41 Perimeter Center East, Suite 550, Atlanta, GA 30346.
