Connie Harbour Baker

Mrs. Connie Harbour Baker, age 90 of Calhoun, passed away Friday, March 25, 2011 at Gordon Health Care following several weeks of declining health. Connie was born in Floyd County on May 9, 1920, daughter of the late Katy and Clayton Harbour. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Ralph Baker; and three sisters, Virginia Bing, Edna Jackson, and Olivia Jones.

Mrs. Baker was a homemaker, loved to sew, read, and plant and grow flowers. She also worked in the textile industry. She attended Nellie Peters United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two children, all of Calhoun; a son, Teddy Ralph Baker and his wife Faye; and a daughter, Connie Sue Payne and her husband Jimmy; three grandchildren, Mitchell Payne and his wife Tonya, Michael Payne and his wife Jennifer, and Douglas Baker; and a great-granddaughter, Catelyn Sue Payne. Also surviving are two brothers-in-law, Paul Haley and Clarence Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Connie Harbour Baker will be conducted Monday, March 28th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Dennis Jarvis and Rev. Kenny Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Mike Payne, Mitch Payne, Allen Cagle, Jimmy Terry, Doug Baker, and Bobby Graham. Honorary pallbearers include nieces and nephews and the men of Nellie Peters United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
