Craig Henson

Sgt. Craig Henson, age 44 of Calhoun, GA died Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Northside Atlanta Hospital from complications associated with Leukemia.

Sgt. Henson was born in Floyd County, GA on May 18, 1970, son of Billy and Judy Davis Henson. He was a member of the 1988 graduating class of Calhoun High School. He completed his law enforcement training at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center at Forsyth, GA. Craig was currently a member of the Gordon County Sheriff's Department, having served as a Deputy Sheriff for 20 years and attaining the rank of Sergeant. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting for deer. He was a proud and loving father and son. Craig was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and Coosawattee Lodge #306 F&AM. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rev. Roy Lee and Oudia Fowler Davis, and Dewey and Delia Jenkins Henson.

Survivors include his fiancAC., Kodi Phillips, to whom he was going to wed on June 15th, 2015; his son, Jason Henson of Calhoun; parents, Billy and Judy Davis Henson of Calhoun; a very special aunt, Nancy Davis of Calhoun; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and he also leaves behind his very special canine companion, " Baby ".

A service to celebrate the life of Sgt. Craig Henson will held Monday, March 2nd at 1:00 PM from Mount Olive Baptist Church, with Rev. Ronnie Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Haven of Rest Memorial Park with Masonic Rites conducted by Coosawattee Lodge #306 F&AM. Law Enforcement Burial Honors will be accorded by the Gordon County Sheriff's Department Honor Guard. Pallbearers serving will include Randy McElrath, Matt Massingill, Stacy Worthington, Chris Davis, Doug Todd and Chad Phillips. Honorary pallbearers serving include members of the Gordon County Sheriff's Department, along with special cousins, Dusty Johnson, Jimmy (Bodie) Henson, Keith Henson and Brian Quinn.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home beginning Saturday February 28th at 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, then Sunday from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM, and on Monday from 9:00 am until time to depart to the church for the funeral service.
