Curtis M. Koon

Mr. Curtis M. "Curt" Koon, age 64 of Calhoun, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at his home. He was born on October 1, 1950 in Columbus, Ohio, son of the late Whitman Merrill and Ova Marie Shumate Koon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Montgomery.

Curt worked at King Steel in Rome before illness forced retirement. Before that he worked on the Alaskan pipeline for a number of years.

He is survived by his girlfriend of 25 years, Jennylee M. Blay of Calhoun; three sons, Quenton Combs, Jeff Wilson, and Chris; two step-daughters, Virginia Smith and Marie Bone, both of Calhoun; a nephew, Tracy Lee Montgomery of Calhoun; and nine grandchildren.

As to Curts wishes, there will be no services. His body was cremated. There will be a cookout held at a future date.

A memorial fund has been set up to help pay final expenses at Wells Fargo in Curtis name or Jennylee Blay.
