Curtis Ray Hancock

Mr. Curtis Ray Hancock, age 63 of Fairmount, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at his residence after a sudden illness. He was a native of Gordon County, born on February 9, 1950 to the late Clemon and Berta Lee Green Hancock. He had resided in the Riverdale, GA area until moving to Fairmount in 2006. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jacky Hancock, John Hancock, and Clayton Hancock.

Mr. Hancock was retired from Ford Motor Company after 33 years. He loved his farm, and enjoyed raising animals and bee-keeping.

He leaves behind four brothers, David Hancock and Clarence Hancock, both of Fairmount, Gary Hancock and his wife Nancy of Calhoun, and Steve Hancock of Pulaski, TN; seven sisters, Annie Mae Owens of Oakman, Jean Brookshire of Red Bud, Dymple Townsend and her husband Arvil of Fairmount, Sue Goble of Fairmount, Nancy Cox and her husband Colbert of Calhoun, Patsy Patterson of Eton, and Glynese Pierce and her husband Roy of Calhoun; and his beloved dog, "Snoopy". Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Curtis Ray Hancock will be held Tuesday, January 7th at 1:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev(s) Hershel Pierce, Eddie Brannon, and Reggie Goble officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Grove (Ryo) Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Nick Hancock, Brad Cochran, Scott Patterson, Tracy Patterson, Kenneth Keener, and Kemp McReynolds. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Goble and Randy Cox.

The Hancock family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Monday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
