Mr. Jimmy (Cy) Blalock, age 66, of Big Oak Tree Road, Adairsville, Georgia, died August 15, 2006, at his residence following several years of declining health. Mr. Blalock was born in Gordon County on October 19, 1939, son of the late Walter and Alma Long Blalock. He was preceded in death by two daughters; Kathy Arlene Blalock and Kathryn Darlene Blalock, and by three sisters; Myrtle Wood, Louise Chitwood, and Eloise Caylor. He attended College Street Church of God and was a retired mechanic from Gold Kist.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lawson Blalock, to whom he was married for 47 years; a daughter, Kim Floyd and her husband Mark of Adairsville; two grandchildren, Lexie and Logan Floyd. Two sisters, Dymple Kirby and Kay Brown, both of Calhoun; nine brothers; Ed Blalock of Rocky Face, C.J., Boyd, Max, Harold, Tommy, Glenn, Richard, and Donald Blalock, all of Calhoun also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy (Cy) Blalock will be held Friday, August 18, at 2:00pm at the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Donald Lee officiating. Interment will follow at the Haven of Rest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday between the hours of 6:00pm and 9:00pm. Active pallbearers will include Mitchell Blalock, Gary Blalock, Allen Blalock, Daniel Brown, Glenn Phillips, Randy Long, David Gray, and Kam Willis. Honorary pallbearers will include Billy Holbert, Nicholas Blalock, David Bryant, Charley Allen, Mike Johnson, Larry Dodd, Tommy Phillips, Anthony Blalock, Bruce Blalock, Chris Blalock, Lorin Lawson, Lanne Lawson, Ronnie Chitwood, and Clay Long. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Friday at 1:15p.m.
