Daniel Frederick Kendrick, 66, died Friday, August 29, 2014, in Sugar Valley, Ga. A Cobb County native, Dan was a son of the late Edward Storey Kendrick. He is survived by his mother, Anna Wiman Kendrick of Sugar Valley; his sister Ruth Kendrick Edwards of Marietta; his brother Gary Kendrick of Sugar Valley; his brother David Kendrick of White, Ga.; his brother Randy Kendrick of Marietta; and his many nieces and nephews.
Dan held academic degrees from the University of Georgia, Georgia State University and Columbia Theological Seminary. A multi-talented businessman, he had success as a residential developer, a restaurateur, an investor and an Arthritis Foundation executive.
A lifelong Presbyterian, Dan served as an elder in the Central Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Presbyterian Health, Education and Welfare Association. He was a member of Atlanta Interfaith AIDS Network and Congregations for Affordable Housing. Most recently, Dan was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Calhoun, Ga.
Dan frequently volunteered in community activities. Among his many interests, Dan was an accomplished equestrian.
He died peacefully in his sleep following a long illness.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church of Calhoun on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 829 Red Bud Rd., NE, Calhoun, Ga.
