Daniel James Mcbee

Mr. Daniel James McBee, age 65 of Calhoun, died Monday, March 14, 2016 at Gordon Hospital following several weeks illness.

Mr. McBee was born in Gordon County on January 2, 1951, son of the late Ralph and Mary Gravitt McBee.

He was a graduate of Calhoun High School, class of 1969, and a graduate of West Georgia College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology. Dan enjoyed a life-long career in sales, and was instrumental in founding the New Echota River Alliance, where he served as Executive Director. He was a true friend of the North Georgia Waterways, leading clean-ups and paddling trips that attracted people statewide. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed being with his friends. He was a member of Calhoun Elks Lodge # 1883, and a member of Calhoun First Baptist Church.

Dan is survived by his daughter, Catherine McBee; his son, Daniel Rush McBee; and his aunt, Charlene Gravitt of Calhoun; along with other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, March 16th at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. John Barber officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 16, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
