Mr. Danny Lamar Coggins, 72, of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Advent Health Gordon, surrounded by his loving family.
Danny was born in Fairmount, Georgia on February 8, 1951, the son of the late Vester and Myrtle Coggins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Lacey Edwards; sister, Elaine Coggins; brother, Ronnie Coggins; two brother-in-laws, Dorsey Long and Bobby Carney.
Danny was a dedicated employee at Manis/Wheeler Building Supply for many years and prior to retirement he was employed by Shaw Industries in Chatsworth. He was a Christian and enjoyed reading the Bible; he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He adored his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Long Coggins, to whom he was married to for 52 years; daughters, Lisa Muse, Jennifer (Jeff) Cooper, Melissa (Chad) Hefner and Julie Burnett; fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Elsie Carney, Martha Rollins, Jane Harrison, Brenda Byars; brother-in-law, David Long; nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
A service to celebrate Danny's life will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Cowart and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery near Rydal. Pallbearers serving will include, Zack Edwards, Chad Hefner Jr., Lane Hefner, Jason Burnett Jr., Jarrod Rollins and David Long. Honorary pallbearers serving include, Paul Rollins, Luke Hefner, Jeffery Patterson, Druw Hefner and Daniel Douthitt.
The family will receive friends Friday, July 14, 2023, at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home between the hours of 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
The family would like to thank Adventhealth Gordon for the care they extended to Danny and the support given to the family and a special thank you to Tapestry Hospice.
