Debbie Ann Self

Debbie Ann Self, age 49 of Calhoun, passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at her residence following several years of declining health. She was born in Floyd County on April 27, 1961, daughter of the late George Washington Self and the late Nora Lee Dowdy Self. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Rose Kimsey.

During her lifetime, Debbie was employed in the textile industry with Astro Dye, and was a member of the Blackwood Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Tony Ray Kimsey, Michael Joe Kimsey and his wife Lisa, and George William Kimsey, all of Calhoun; three brothers, David Self of Dalton, Ed Self and his wife Betty of Resaca, and Lonnie Self of Calhoun; and three sisters, Martha Dueshan and her husband Tommy of Yazoo City, Mississippi, Darlene Hembree and her husband Paul of Huntsville, Alabama, and Janice Kay Self of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving include Darrel R. Edgeworth, Danielle R. Edgeworth, Chandler L. Gibson, and Michael D. Kimsey. An aunt, Lou Dean Parker; and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Debbie Ann Self will be conducted Thursday, June 3rd at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Conner officiating. Interment will follow in the Blackwood Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, with Pastor Norris Sexton conducting the committal service. Active pallbearers will include Tony Kimsey, Bradley Roberts, Johnny Willis, Lonnie Self, David Self, and Shane Wooten. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Thursday at 10:15am. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Wooten, Ricky Parker, and Paul Hembree.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 5:00pm until 9:00pm.
