Delmar Lee Everett

October 4, 1926 — July 24, 2008

Mr. Delmar Lee Everett, age 81 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Gordon Hospital. He was born in Gordon County on October 4, 1926, son of the late Leo and Mattie Mae Cox Everett.

Mr. Everett was a veteran, having served his country in the US Army as an MP, and was in the Philippines during World War II. He had owned and operated Everett's Grocery for over 40 years, and was a member of Plainview Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Donnie Everett and Lisa Thigpen, and Ronnie Everett and his wife Jenny, both of Calhoun; a brother, Sam Everett of Bowden, Georgia; four sisters, Martha Dennard of Kennesaw, Nita Averhart of Marietta, Jane Hunt of Calhoun, and Louise Fountain of Marietta. Three grandchildren, Ashley and Derek Everett, and Mark Poole; one great-grandchild, Samantha Poole, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Delmar Lee Everett will be conducted Saturday, July 26 at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Benny Thomas and Rev. Danny Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Sugar Valley Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Lamar Shugart, Mitch Talley, Danny McGaskey, Keith Parker, Mark Poole, and Donnell McMichael. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 1:15pm. Honorary pallbearers will include Shon Erwin, Bobby Weldon, and the men of Plainview Baptist Church, and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:45pm Saturday. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning Thursday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm, and continuing on Friday until the funeral hour on Saturday.
