Delmer Henson

Mr. Delmer Henson, age 77 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2009 following several years of declining health.

Mr. Henson was born on December 7, 1931 at Hayesville, North Carolina, son of the late Archie Richard Henson and Leavey Maney Henson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Henson, and later by Florence Henson Tish; by brothers, Felder Henson, and Elmer Henson; and sisters, Pauline Henson and Lorrene Ferguson.

Survivors include his former wife and friend, Susan Hollaway; seven daughters, Carolyn Teague and her husband Roger of Jasper, Nina Parker and her husband Steve of Calhoun, Betty Henson of Woodstock, Mary Henson of Cohutta, Linda Smith and her husband Donald of Chatsworth, Jacqueline Shook of Eurhalee, and Loie Davis and her husband Jeremy of Eurhalee; four sons, Johnny Henson and his wife Tracy of Cleveland, Tennessee, Richard Henson and his wife Sadie, and Toby Henson and his wife Debbie, all of Calhoun, and Linus M. Westberry of Acworth; three sisters, Christine Bruce of Dahlonega, Irene Hollifield and her husband Leon of Jasper, and Monteen Ledbetter of Gainesville. Grandchildren, Sheryl Parker, Pamela Hughes, Donald Smith, Jr., Ashley Westberry, Harley Shook, James Pearson, Hylan Davis, Albert Davis, and many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Delmer Henson will be conducted Sunday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Jether Cochran and Rev. Gary Quarles officiating. Active pallbearers serving will include Andy Buchanan, Johnny Henson, Jorge Baza, Shane Henson, Heath Henson, Richard Henson and Chris Channey. Honorary pallbearers serving will include Lukas Baza, Jacob Evans, Levi Evans, Dylan Thomas, James Pearson and Aidn Channey. Interment will follow the service at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday evening between the hours of 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
