Deryll Erwin

June 4, 1932 — April 20, 2008

Mr. Deryll Erwin, age 75 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Gordon County on June 4, 1932, son of the late Hubert and Meda Littlefield Erwin. Mr. Erwin was retired from Gold Kist after 32 years as a Field Representative, and was a veteran, having served his country in the US Army. He was a member of the Farmville United Methodist Church and the "Gordon County Senior Citizens Center."

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Jean Langston Erwin; a son, Dwight Erwin and his wife Connie of Chattanooga; step-granddaughters, Lacey Dennis and Wendy Bowman; a step-grandchild, "Lake" Dennis all of Decatur, Tennessee; brothers, Ned Erwin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dan Erwin of Cornelia, Georgia, and Larry Erwin of Calhoun; and sisters, Norma Hobbs and Faye Massey, both of Buford, Georgia, and Gail Miller of Plano, Texas. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Deryll Erwin will be conducted Wednesday, April 23, at 2:00pm from the Farmville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Guy Kent and Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Interment will follow in Gordon Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will include William Beason, Reese Bernard, Tom Owens, Howard Hall, Nevin Erwin, and John Erwin. These gentlemen are asked to meet at the funeral home Wednesday at 1:15pm. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Reese Bernard Sunday School Class, and they are asked to meet at the church Wednesday at 1:45pm. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday between the hours of 3:00pm and 9:00pm.
