Donald Hopper

April 18, 1940 — December 15, 2015

Mr. William Donald Hopper, 75 of Calhoun, died Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at his home following several years of declining health. He was born in Gordon County on April 18, 1940, son of the late Lawson and Eva Miller Hopper.

Prior to retirement, Donald was owner of Quality Mat of Calhoun, and had been General Manager of Calhoun Plastics. He enjoyed gardening and his flower beds. He was a member, a Sunday School teacher, and Church Clerk of New Hope Baptist Church in Ranger.

He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Joyce Jones Hopper; his children and their spouses, Terry and Nita Hopper of Calhoun, and Terry and Tina Grant of Fairmount, Melissa Wood, Melinda Barber, Sonya and Morris Flippen, and Tammy and Randy Balliew, all of Calhoun; a brother, Thomas Charles Hopper of Calhoun; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Doug Smith of Resaca; grandchildren, Jada Weaver and her husband Caleb, Jena Hopper, Leslie Wood, Lindsey Barber, Heather Balliew, Hillary Balliew, Dakota Grant, Matthew Flippen, and Montana Grant; and a great-grandchild, Jase Wade Weaver.

Services to honor the life of Mr. William Donald Hopper will be held Thursday, December 17th at 2:00 PM from New Hope Baptist Church, with Rev. Jim Storm, Rev. Earnest Channell, and Rev. Dewight Scott officiating. Rev. William Cline will conduct the committal service at the church cemetery. Music will be arranged by Morris Flippen and Teri Woody. Active pallbearers will include Jerry Stafford, Tommy Long, Matthew Flippen, Norman Parker, Anthony Moss, and Grady Burger. Honorary pallbearers are Ken Parker, William Twilley, Paul Barton, Louie Watkins, Darrell Wilson, and employees of Calhoun Plastics.

The Hopper family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 16th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
