Mr. Donnie Ray Broome, age 55 of Calhoun, died Monday, February 28, 2011 at his residence surrounded by love with his family at his side. He was born in McMinn County, TN on May 14, 1955, son of the late Walter and Ozella Myrtle Davis Broome. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Broome, Jr. and Jerry Broome; two sisters, Shirley Faye Broome, and Norma Jean Brookshire; a nephew, Kenny Broome, and a special mother-in-law, Barbara Ward.

Donnie was employed by Beaulieu of America for 12 years, and was a member of the New Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Gay Broome of the residence; a son, Dereck Broome and April Carroll; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Greg Hendrix, and Myra and Ryan Ingle, all of Calhoun; a brother and sister-in-law, Rickey and Linda Broome of Calhoun; four sisters, Janie Lee Broome of Calhoun, Judy Glass of Ranger, Jeanette Kelley and her husband Rodney of Calhoun, and Ellen Broome of Rome; and two brothers-in-law, Kevin Rexroad and his wife Susan of Illinois, and Darrell Suggs of Calhoun. Grandchildren surviving are Lauren Hendrix, Taylor Hendrix, Holli Hendrix, Breanna Dutton, Jesse Hendrix, and Bryse and McKinsey Ingle. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Donnie Ray Broome will be conducted Thursday, March 3rd at 1:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Gene Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Haven of Rest Memorial Park with Rev. Lamar Bearden conducting the committal service. Active pallbearers will include Chris Fairbanks, Chris Rogers, Josh Broome, Derek Broome, Randy Rogers, Rickey Broome, Chad Kelley, and Brian Rexroad. Honorary escorts are Rodney Kelley, Steve Jackson, and Kevin Rexroad.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Wednesday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
