Doris Goble Hice

Mrs. Doris Goble Hice, age 94 of Calhoun, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 following several months of illness.

Mrs. Hice was born on November 23, 1914 in Gordon County; daughter of the late Willie David Goble and Nellie Beason Goble. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Clayton Hice. Mrs. Hice was retired from the textile industry and was a charter and oldest member of Eastgate Baptist Church.

Mrs. Hice is survived by two daughters; Ann Shaw and her husband Bill of Adairsville, and Sue Nell Wall and her husband Sonny of Monroe; five sons; R.M. Hice and his wife Ruth of Barnesville, Dale Hice and his wife Marilyn of Calhoun, Bobby Hice and his wife Mary Jean of Calhoun, James Larry Hice and his wife Marie of Turnersville, New Jersey, and Barry Hice and his wife Shelia of Calhoun. Twenty-four grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Goble Hice will be conducted Thursday at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. J. Clinton Green officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery, with Rev. Eddie Brannon conducting the graveside rites. Grandsons will serve as active and honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Wednesday beginning at 4:00pm.
