Mrs. Dorothy B. Potts, age 90 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Gordon Health Care Center.
She was born on April 24, 1921 in Floyd County, daughter of the late Luther B. Wright and Buna B. Bailey Wright. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Cooper Potts, to whom she had been married for 34 years; a grandson, Timothy Brian Nicholson; brothers, Hershel, L.C., Raymond and Gary Wright; and a sister, Jewel Culberson.
Mrs. Potts was a homemaker and a member of Riverview Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Nicholson and her husband Doug of Rydal, and Sherry Stanley of Calhoun; two sons, Rev. Pat Potts and his wife Linda of Sugar Valley, and Ronald "Pee Wee" Potts and his wife Lorene of Calhoun; a sister, Edna Carter of Rome; two brothers, Ranford Wright and his wife Sarah of Rome, and Mark Wright and his wife Sylvia of Chicago, IL; ten grandchildren; fourteen great- grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews and other relatives also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy B. Potts will be conducted Saturday, April 30, 2011 at 3:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Music will be arranged by Haley Owenby. Active pallbearers serving will include Bruce Potts, Matt Nicholson, Justin Thomas, Adam Bennett, Randy Thomas and Dwayne Bennett. Honorary pallbearers are Jerome Culberson, Gether Culberson and Troy Culberson. Interment will follow the service in Gordon Memorial Gardens.
The Potts family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday after 6:00pm.
