Dorothy Estelle Gravitt

Mrs. Dorothy Estelle Gravitt, age 76 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011 at Gordon Health Care. She was born in Gordon County on February 15, 1935, daughter of the late John and Lucy Keene Clark. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Jackson Clark; a sister, Deborah Lee; and two brothers-in-law, Howard Lewis and Gary Lee.

Mrs. Gravitt was retired from Torrington-Fafnir. She loved her dog Coco, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and flowers.

Survivors include her husband, Oscar Jefferson Gravitt; a son, Jeffrey Gravitt of Pulaski, TN; two daughters, Laurie Bruce of Calhoun, and Becky Hughes and her husband David of Trenton, GA; a brother, Charles William "Bill" Clark and his wife Kathryn of Calhoun; a sister, Betty Lewis of Calhoun; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Clark of Merced, CA. A grandson, Alexander Gravitt; and close friend, Evelyn Jones also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Estelle Gravitt will be held Wednesday, August 24th at 10:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Frank Bramlett and Jim Luckett officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include David Hughes, Tommy Denmon, Buddy Fox, Frank Lewis, Ghenaro Echevarria, and Dwayne Bowman.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Tuesday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.
