Mrs. Dorothy Mae Wilson, 81 of Calhoun, died Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Gordon Hospital. She was born in Gordon County on December 3, 1934, daughter of the late Lewis and Pearl Carney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Wilson, in 1998; a daughter, Rebecca Wilson; brothers and sister-in-law, Charles Carney, Rayford Carney, A.D. Carney, and James and Jeanette Carney; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Sue and Melvin Edwards, Catherine and Bobby Haygood, and Frances and Hubert Goss.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tyrone and Diane Wilson; her daughters and sons-in-law, Tanyan and Jim Dougherty, and Rachel and Wes Gazaway; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Banks Crump, and Mary Ruth and Billy Robinson; grandchildren, Juston Wilson, Zachary Wilson, Whitney Mixson, Rachel Wilson, Jessica Wilson, Autumn Turner, Hannah Dougherty, and Ryan Dougherty; and great-grandchildren, Wilson and Cambrie Mixson, Avonlea and Mya-Belle Wilson, and River Turner.
Services to honor the life of Mrs. Dorothy Mae Wilson will be held Thursday, October 20th at 2:00 PM from Concord Baptist Church, with Bro. Sammy Allen, Bro. Bob Daugherty, and Bro. Chandler Boling officiating. Mrs. Wilsons body will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the service hour. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Music will be arranged by Jimmie Lou Allen and Mike Bunch. Active pallbearers will include Zachary Wilson, Juston Wilson, Brad Mixon, Josh Turner, Lee Crump, and Gabe Edwards. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Crump, Steve Robinson, Eddie Carney, Ricky Witt, Sammy Witt, and Joe Hall.
The Wilson family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 19th from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
