Obituary

James Douglas "Doug" Smith, 75, of Resaca, died Saturday, August 17, 2019 at his home. He was born in Murray County, GA on May 17, 1944, son of the late John and Gertrude Wofford Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Smith, J.M. Smith, and T.J. Smith.
Doug was retired from Mohawk, and was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Linda Hopper Smith; his son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Megan Smith of Chatsworth; his sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Willard Jackson of Chatsworth; his grandchild, Morgan Smith; and nieces and nephews.
Services to honor his life will be held Tuesday, August 20th at 1:00 PM, from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Harold Blackstock officiating. Music will be arranged by Morris Flippen. Burial will follow in New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will include Marvin Nix, Marshall Smith, Benny Smith, Steve Curtis, Terry Hopper and Chad Smith.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, August 19th, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
