Doyle Floyd Bennett

Mr. Doyle Floyd Bennett, age 66 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a native of Gordon County, born on March 27, 1946 to the late Marion Dennis Bennett and the late Bertha Goss Bennett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Bennett of Sugar Valley, J.R. Bennett of Plainville, and Ted Bennett of Calhoun; a brother-in-law, Otis Hamrick; a sister-in-law, Edith Bennett; and a Godchild, Jonathan Valenzuela.

Before his illness, Doyle had been self-employed, and operated A-1 Towing and Wrecker Service for many years.

Doyle was a loving father, brother, and friend. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Tracy Bennett of Calhoun; a brother, Jimmy Bennett and his wife Tammy of Calhoun; four sisters, Carolyn Hamrick of Marietta, Catherine Brookshire and Joyce Silvers, both of Calhoun, and Janice Hancock and her husband Jimmy of Fairburn, GA; Sister-in-law; Geraldine Bennett of Calhoun, and his former wife Polly Bradley Hopkins of Adairsville to whom he was married for twenty years. Other survivors include Godchildren, Marycella Rameriz, Mireya Rameriz, Elaudia Rameriz, and Ashilee Valenzula; friend, Yvonne Laminick of Alabama; plus a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Doyle Floyd Bennett will be held Sunday, February 24th at 2:00pm from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Norris Sexton and Rev. Tom Dominy officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers will include Michael Fitz, Phillip Carroll, Kevin Silvers, Gregg Landress, Eddie Woodall, and Artrell Silvers. Honorary pallbearers are former co-workers, Claude Baker, Ricky Rutledge, Danny Field, Ed Stillwall, and David DeFreeze. Music will be arranged by Kim and Matt Norris.

The Bennett family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Saturday from 6:00pm until 9:00pm.
