Duane Bohannon

Mr. Claude Duane Bohannon, Sr., age 83 of Calhoun, passed away January 8, 2015, at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Wynelle Bohannon of 55 years; his two sons, Vic and wife Connie, and Claude Duane, Jr.; a daughter Luane Bohannon; three granddaughters, Caitlyn and Crystal Bohannon, and Carly Lay and husband Kalin; and a great-granddaughter, Amariah. Also surviving are three sons, Ron, Bill and Larry Bohannon; a daughter Carolyn Wagner, along with their families who all live out of state; four brothers, Fred Goble, Eddie, Dan, Jerry and Terry Bohannon; and a sister, Charlotte Towe, along with their spouses. Several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Bohannon was born Sept. 14, 1931 in Gordon County, and was the son of the late Elzo and Reo Smith Bohannon. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Gladys Goble Bohannon; two brothers, J.W. and Jesse Bohannon; and two sisters, Elizabeth Bowers and Mozelle Bohannon. He was retired from Goodyear/Omnova, an active member of South Calhoun Baptist Church, and was loved and cherished by many.

The Bohannon family will receive friends Friday, January 9th, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at South Calhoun Baptist Church, 500 Pine Street, Calhoun, GA 30701.

Funeral services for Duane will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 10th, at South Calhoun Baptist Church, with Rev. Gary Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery, with Rev. Clifford Free conducting the committal service. Active pallbearers will include Donald Knight, Kelly Roberts, David Roberts, Kevin Benton, Barry Tow, and Matthew Blackstock. Honorary pallbearers are the Faithful Workers Sunday School class of South Calhoun Baptist Church, which he taught for many years, and the Deacons of the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to South Calhoun Baptist Church.
